Volunteering for Dementia Day Care
On Tuesday, June 18th, I went to Miriam Grace, a Dementia Day Club that provides a diverse range of activities and days out that stimulate and engage the senses, promoting a happy and healthy living. It is also a place where my father goes once or twice per week.
The club provides a variety of activities and opportunities for social interaction. My day of volunteering included morning tea and cookies, puzzles and games, and a stroll back for team trivia. We then cooked rhubarb and pear crumble, which subsequently became a delicious pudding enjoyed by all.
Before lunch, yours truly conducted a name that tune event. After lunch, it was time for another walk, followed by some seated exercises, and the day ended with some wonderful fun in the sun with golf and archery.
