Love Parks

Love Parks

On Friday, July 26, two dedicated members of the Imperial team, Patty and Scott, embarked on an exciting journey to Waterlow Park in Highgate. Their mission was to join forces with a team from Veolia, Camden, and actively participate in the #LoveParks campaign. This campaign, organised by 'Keep Britain Tidy,' aims to celebrate and support the amazing green spaces throughout the country. Running from July 26 to August 4, the initiative brings together local authorities, green space managers, landowners, residents, and community organisations in a collective effort to cherish and maintain our beautiful parks and natural areas.

Upon arrival at the picturesque Waterlow Park, Patty and Scott were greeted with a perfect, sunlit day, ideal for the litter-picking activity they had planned. The warm weather not only enhanced the experience but also drew numerous dogs and their owners to the park, creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere. As they commenced their litter-picking, both were pleasantly surprised by the park’s pristine condition. Patty even remarked that it was one of the cleanest parks she had ever visited, a testament to the ongoing efforts to keep the area well-maintained.

Throughout the day, Patty and Scott had the wonderful opportunity to bond with the team from Veolia. They exchanged insights and learned more about the various roles and responsibilities within the company. Over the course of a few productive hours, the team managed to collect around a bag’s worth of rubbish, filled with small items such as bottle tops and wrappers. Their efforts did not go unnoticed, as they engaged with park-goers and informed them about the #LoveParks campaign. Even the local hounds showed interest in their activities, adding a touch of charm to the day’s events.

As the session ended, Patty and Scott reflected on their accomplishments and the positive impact of their work. They then headed off to enjoy a well-deserved lunch, The day was a resounding success, filled with meaningful interactions, productive work, and the joy of contributing to a worthy cause.

Participating in the #LoveParks campaign was a truly rewarding experience for the Imperial team and we look forward to future opportunities to get involved and continue making a difference in our green spaces. A huge thank you to Michael and Victor at Veolia Camden for making this all possible.
