Slough Anti-Litter Society
On Thursday 11th July, Imperial Polythene team members Scott and Spencer took part in our ’30 for 30’ campaign, joining Slough Anti-Litter Society for a litter picking session across the Slough Trading Estate with other local businesses, that included NatWest and Stoke Park Active.
Slough Anti-Litter Society was set up by Tirza Meinema during her lockdown walks in 2021, when she saw litter scattered across her neighbourhood. Armed with a litter- pick, Tirza took to the streets and the idea was born. Now the community has lots of volunteers helping with keeping the streets clean and the group has also organised local repair café events and a fashion upcycle competition.
Around 14 people joined in and helped clean the trading estate and the Imperial team also donated a box of clear and black bags to help with future sessions. Scott had this to say, “I really enjoyed myself and had a great time meeting the local community and discovering the area. It’s great to help support a local community group who are so passionate about keeping the environment clean.”
